According to the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), health is a global issue and global health - the optimal well-being of all humans - is a fundamental human right. Nursing endorses a primary health-care approach which is aimed at:

  • Preventing illness and promoting health
  • Providing universally accessible healthcare to people by means they find acceptable
  • Presenting healthcare at a cost communities and countries can afford
  • Sharing responsibility for achieving global health and equity with many different groups and individuals
