Who are military-connected students?

Military-connected students are individuals who:

  • are currently serving in the Reserves or as a Regular member
  • are a civil servant in the Department of National Defence (DND)
  • are a veteran
  • are a foreign military veteran
  • are an immediate family member of a current military member or veteran

This guide's purpose is to:

  • help military-connected students transition to post-secondary studies
  • provide background considerations for faculty and staff
  • provide an overview of military history
  • identify community resources, associations, and organizations

Ernest Cole a farmer from Massey Ontario volunteered for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in December 1915, joining his local Battalion. After training in Canada, he went overseas where he was involved in the battle for Hill
70. Dangerously wounded, he died in hospital on 23rd of August 1917.
