Working on your OER - Practical Tips & Help

As you begin to work on your OER project, you may have questions and concerns. Review the content below for practical tips, tricks and help to keep things going smoothly!

Adopt an OER

You can "adopt" an OER (or several) without too much work. Simply find, evaluate, and select your favourite from a large selection of OERs on the web. See the "Adopt or Adapt?" link for pointers on how to get started.

Get in touch with the OER librarian for help identifying starting points!

Ready to adapt or create an OER?

Georgian has access to a variety of tools and resources to help you develop your OER. You'll need to think about the type of content you'd like to prepare, and how your students will access the finished project. Here are some options:

  • Pressbooks - creates an online textbook that can be freely accessed, linked to, and edited by multiple contributors.
  • H5P - available both on the web AND within Blackboard, to create interactive activities and assessments.

Not sure what you'd like to use? Check in with the OER team at the library. Email us at oer@georgiancollege.ca
