The strength of OER
Building a Medical Terminology Foundation (2020), by Kimberlee Carter (Conestoga) and Marie Rutherford (Georgian) is one of Georgian's first published OER. This text is already in use at Georgian, Conestoga and other academic institutions. In a presentation at Open Education Conference 2022, educators discuss a state-wide collaboration based on Building a Medical Terminology Foundation. Kimberlee and Marie are currently working on a plan to revise this 2020 publication with V2 coming in 2023.
We'll share the video of the presentation as soon as it's released to the public, but for now, here the new OER resources that were created:
This OER textbook is an adaptation/remix of several existing OER, combined with original content to create a comprehensive textbook for COMM1016 at Georgian (and beyond!). Summary PowerPoints created and expanded H5P activities added with support from the OER Design Studio for Fall 2022. The OER Design Studio continues to assist with updates and maintenance for this OER.

This OER was a multi-institutional collaboration with faculty from six institutions as contributors. Building a Medical Terminology Foundation is currently in use with students in health administration and health programs in institutions across North America, including Conestoga College & Georgian College. This OER will undergo revision, updates and improvements in Winter 2023.

This OER material is a companion for the Therapeutic Communication for Health Care Administrators OER. A collaborative project between Conestoga, Georgian & Sheridan, this project also used OER student assistants and a large number of reviewers to fine tune the final project.

This OER, adapted by Fanshawe College, provides a great starting resource for our GenED course, starting in Fall 2022. The OER Design Studio prepared PowerPoint files to accompany this text, and shared those back to the OER creator. OER & it's cover art are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0

This OER will be used starting in Fall 2022 for PSYC4008 – Research Methods in Psychology. Currently in it's 4th edition, this OER is provided by Kwantlen Polytechnic University and licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The OER Design Studio will be assisting in the implementation of this text by helping to create interactive H5P activities to accompany the text.

Moon of the Crusted Snow: Reader's Guide has been adopted by Academic and Career Prep for use in English Degree & Prep courses. The Reader's guide & cover image are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA and produced by the OE Lab at Ontario Tech.
Compiled by Mary Wuergler with support from the Library OER Design Studio, this OER adaptation has been created for various levels of our EAP program. The OER will provide practical guidance on understanding and applying APA formatting & citation style.

This work-in-progress digital course pack has been compiled by Amanda Quibell for use in COMM2021. The Library OER Design Studio has assisted with the creation of the Pressbook, content updates for accessibility and copyright compliance. Amanda intends to continue developing and improving the OER with help from her students in upcoming semesters.

Enhanced Chemistry OER by Samantha Sullivan Sauer, Adrienne Richards, Dave Wegman, Gregory Anderson, Caryn Fahey, J.R. van Haarlem, Jackie MacDonald

VLS 2 funded project. The enhanced chemistry OER is a collaborative project between Georgian College and Loyalist College. We've also welcomed Jackie MacDonald as a collaborator from Conestoga, and are collaborating with the Conestoga College OER group on development. Stay tuned for project updates
Faculty are currently adapting this OER on verb tenses for use in EAP. The text has a rich selection of interactive activities, but needs some editing to make it student friendly and relevant to Georgian Students. Stay tuned for more details as this project develops.
