OER at Georgian

OER Adoption at Georgian

Adapting or creating a new OER is a worthwhile, but sometimes time consuming activity. Depending on your subject area, we can also explore:

  • Adopting an existing OER textbook
  • Adopting a set of OER/open access readings to replace your textbook
  • Creating a Pressbook or digital course pack for your students that incorporates a variety of OER resources

Our success stories below are still being added! Please email oer@georgiancollege.ca to let us know about your project(s). Stay tuned for updates.

The strength of OER

Building a Medical Terminology Foundation (2020), by Kimberlee Carter (Conestoga) and Marie Rutherford (Georgian) is one of Georgian's first published OER. This text is already in use at Georgian, Conestoga and other academic institutions. In a presentation at Open Education Conference 2022, educators discuss a state-wide collaboration based on Building a Medical Terminology Foundation. Kimberlee and Marie are currently working on a plan to revise this 2020 publication with V2 coming in 2023.

We'll share the video of the presentation as soon as it's released to the public, but for now, here the new OER resources that were created:
