Understanding Standard Names & Numbers

Most standards follow a similar structure. They will look something like this DEF D267.89-07where

DEF is the organization which developed the standard
D is a broad subject category (not always available)
267.89 is a document/standard number
07 indicates the standard was approved in 2007

For example,

CSA A23.1-14/A23.2-14 refers to the combined CSA standard of Concrete materials and methods of concrete construction/Test methods and standard practices for concrete, Includes Updates No. 1 and No. 2. The edition was issued in 2014.
