OER For Computer Science

OER are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license, such as the Creative Commons, that permit their free use and re-purposing by others. These OER are examples of foundational books which may serve as supplementary readings to course textbooks.

Algorithms and Data Structures
This is an OER textbook for first year Computer Science. Algorithms and Data Structures With Applications to Graphics and Geometry from BCcampus by Jurg Nievergelt, Klaus Hinrichs, 2014.
Open Data Structures: An Introduction
Offered as an introduction to the field of data structures and algorithms, Open Data Structures, by Pat Morin, covers the implementation and analysis of data structures for sequences (lists), queues, priority queues, unordered dictionaries, ordered dictionaries, and graphs. Focusing on a mathematically rigorous approach that is fast, practical, and efficient, Morin clearly and briskly presents instruction along with source code. It was published in 2014
Programming Languages: Application and Interpretation
Unlike some other textbooks, this one does not follow a top-down narrative. Rather it has the flow of a conversation, with backtracking.
The main programming language used in this book is Racket. Like with all operating systems, however, Racket actually supports a host of programming languages, so you must tell Racket which language you’re programming in. The author is Shriram Krishnamurthi and it was published in 2015.
Think Java: How to Think Like a Computer Scientist
Overview:Think Java is an introduction to Java programming for beginners. It is tailored for students preparing for the Computer Science Advanced Placement (AP) Exam, but it is for anyone who wants to learn Java. The authors are Allen B. Downey, Chris Mayfield and it was published in 2012.
